The NPACI Planguage Project Overview

The projected NPACI release for PC and Pfortran is January 1999.
See the development schedule for details.

This project is concerned with development of the PC and Pfortran translators. The Planguage programming approach eases the task of writing parallel programs for massively parallel computers and networks of workstations. At the Planguage center are operators used to specify non-local variables, including an operator for aggregate operations. The same Planguage constructs are used on different machines without need for modification. So, to port Planguage codes often amounts to little more than a recompilation with the Pfortran and PC translators, followed by a compilation with the native Fortran and C compilers. A number of well-known computational chemistry programs parallelized with Pfortran are now in production use on massively parallel computers
